Manufacturer: Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc
  • Description

For 2024, the Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc’s collectible annual Joan of Arc saint medallion features the first-place winner of the judges’ selections from our 2022 Joan of Art juried art exhibition. “Joan on Fire” was painted by Margaret Watson of New Orleans. The halo of fire symbolizes both her glory and her martyrdom by fire.

The back of the medallion says “St. Joan of Arc 2024.” Saint medallions are individually packaged traditional saint-medal-style on a prayer card in a fitted cello envelope. Inside the envelope is another card with background information on the painting on one side. The other side contains the initials of Krewe members who made and prayed over the medallion.

The 2024 prayer card is also included in the cello envelope.

This year's prayer is by Josanne Sjostrand, Army veteran and member of the Women Warriors group that marches in our parade: "Dear St. Joan of Arc, brave, beautiful and faithful warrior of God. Help me to stand strong against the enemies of Jesus Christ in a new world that seems so strange. Help me to be confident and not afraid even if everything seems to be going against me. Help me to recognize that my joy comes from doing the will of God and not my will. Help me to help neighbors in their time of need. Thank you for keeping me company as you march next to me to victory with our Lord Jesus. "

For 2024, the central image of the prayer card is "Le Porte-Drapeau Plus Elevee," an original work by mural artist Max Bernadi of New Orleans, which tied for first place for our 2022 Joan of Art juried art show at Ariodante Gallery. For 2024 and the last several years, the prayer card frame is based on the Book of Hours of King Charles VIII of France, made in the late 1400s in Paris. François Barbier painted the border miniatures.

Please note: Because Foot Soldier members may not hand out throws, they may not purchase throws, except for the keepsake pack and individual throws sold in person at events.
