These socials are a chance to meet others, ask questions, show off your projects and swap ideas. Drop in when you can, stay as long you like. We’ll have a Krewe logo sign at our table. Our next monthly social will be Wednesday July 19 at Madame Vic’s bar, with live music and Holy French Crepes food truck.

Sunday June 25 Throws Workshop 1-4 p.m.

Come craft with us at the home of krewe captain Amanda Helm at 7330 Sycamore St. (map)  All skill levels are welcome and all supplies will be provided. These are a great way to connect with other krewe members, get your questions answered, show off your own krewe projects, and bounce ideas. Note: Due to street construction in the area, it works best to come down Lowerline from Claiborne. The house is on the corner of Lowerline and Sycamore, two blocks off Claiborne. (Note: Captain Antoinette is hosting this workshop at Captain Amanda’s house.) Next monthly workshops: Sundays 1-4 p.m. July 23 and August 27.

Feast Day Celebration Tonight!

Dress in white and bring flowers to lay at her statue.

Prayer Service 6:30 p.m. at Old Ursuline Convent Chapel

We’re looking forward to honoring St. Joan of Arc on the day of her death with a brief but beautiful prayer service planned by Krewe member Jaymie Stuart Wolfe, in the equally inspiring setting of the Old Ursuline Convent Chapel (1100 Chartres St., map). Get there early so you can check out the stunning painting of St. Joan brought by the original French Ursuline nuns! Around 6:45 p.m. we’ll walk together as a procession from the chapel, about two blocks to the statue.

7 p.m. Statue and Frank’s Restaurant

Around 7 p.m., we’ll gather briefly at the golden “Joanie on the Pony” statue to say a few words and place our flowers, then we’ll take our party across the street to Frank’s Italian restaurant (933 Decatur, map). Frank’s has reserved the upstairs room for us, with the balcony looking out on the Joan of Arc statue, and you can each order for yourselves on separate checks from the regular Frank’s menu.  We’ll share some krewe news at Frank’s, but mostly we’ll just be socializing.

Prospective members are welcome!  This is a great kick-off for friends thinking of joining. Here’s a link to the Facebook event if you want to invite people that way.

Early Bird Membership Pricing until May 30

As usual, May 30 is the deadline to get our most affordable membership prices. Membership prices will increase by $25 after Joan’s Feast Day (May 30) and again after All Saint’s Day (Nov. 1). Get your 2024 membership now!  You’ll also be able to pay by check at the Feast Day party.

Thank you for your 2023 service in Joan’s Army of Artists!

Photo by Kim Welsh. Check out more fabulous photos of foot soldiers (maybe even YOU!), videos and press coverage here.

Thank you, foot soldiers, for your valuable volunteer service for our 2023 parade. We couldn’t do it without you! As a thank-you we’re offering foot soldiers a special discount if you want to upgrade to full membership so you can financially support our year-round activities, hand out throws and choose your own costume for 2024. The discount expires after Mardi Gras 2023!  To join as a full member, fill out the application here, then on the payment page, add your membership to your shopping cart, then enter FOOTSOLDIER in the coupon code box when you check out.

Your discount is $25 off, a 20% discount. After Mardi Gras, you’ll still have access through the website menus to our regular membership prices, which increase on Joan’s Feast Day May 30 and All Saints Day Nov. 1.

If you prefer to remain as a free foot soldier, that’s cool. We still need you and love you, and you can still come to any of our events.  You can also re-enlist as a foot soldier here.

Re-live the glory of our 2023 parade!

Fantastic weather, fantastic crowds, and mostly only the right kind of excitement — what a great “roll” for 2023!  Thank you for all your creativity, your attention to detail, and your enthusiastic, energetic performances. Thank you to all those who headed off problems before we noticed, from the foot soldiers warning of potholes to the people armed with safety pins, duct tape and zip ties.

View our glowing press coverage here and see videos of our parade in action here. Our volunteer photographers Kim Welsh and Gary H. Jones have posted more than 600 pictures of our parade, mass, second line and banquet from 2023 on our Shutterfly share site.  The Shutterfly site includes many photos of individuals (maybe even YOU!) High-res versions of the drone photos that have been circulating on social media are there too (thank you, Marco Rasi!).  Be sure to open the several different “albums” to see all this year’s photos. The password for the Shutterfly share site is Joan1412. You don’t need to be a member of Shutterfly or our share site to view photos, but if you create a free Shutterfly account you’ll also be able to save photos to your own account and from there order prints (including one-hour from Walgreens and CVS), make photo books, etc.  We’d love to see your photos too!  Request to become a site member if you’d like to use Shutterfly’s upload tool, or just email us if you just want to share a few good shots.
