Learn a unique Louisiana dialect and expand your French language skills! This course starts tomorrow, September 17!
Louisiana Créole Step 1 is an introduction to the grammar and structure of the Louisiana Creole language (sometimes referred to as Kouri-Vini). Students will learn the fundamentals of speaking, reading and writing in Louisiana Creole. Students will also be introduced to aspects of Louisiana Creole’s history that shed light on the development of this beautiful language which is the sole French-based Creole language spoken in the United States. This language developed in Louisiana, but is an element of Louisiana’s culture that links this region to our cultural cousins in the Caribbean and to those as far away as Mauritius.
ONSITE, taught by Lawson Ota. Lawson Ota is the founder of Tours by Marguerite, a tourism company offering tours in French and English of historic places in New Orleans. He is also a teacher of French as a foreign language. He is trained in linguistics having graduated in 2012 in French, linguistics and German. He has devoted his career to the defence of the heritage languagesof Louisiana (that is, Louisiana French and Louisiana Creole).

How lucky were we to have our reigning Maid and King present at our Salon de Jeanne d’Arc yesterday? Both shared their personal stories, which had family, French language, travel, music, and Joan of Arc in common!
All hail!

Save the date to see our King Louis Michot & Swamp Magic!
This will especially make sense to all those who attended yesterday’s Salon and heard Louis speak—he mentioned Swamp Magic a few times!
