HEYYYYY book lovers, history lovers, culture lovers---we mean you, all you who love Joan Of Arc Project...here's some amazing news about all the things our Queen is up to and how you can partake, learn, support, and revel in all the richness of our local culture:
Our 2025 Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc Queen Megan Holt is the Executive Director of ONE BOOK ONE NEW ORLEANS, and in honor of 2025 being the 50th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon, she selected local author E.M. Tran's book "Daughters of the New Year", about local (and ancient!) Vietnamese culture, told through the eyes of a Vietnamese woman living in NOLA, daughter of two Vietnamese immigrants.
Our JOAN OF ARC BOOK CLUB will be adding this book to our summer reading list so stay tuned for dates and details! We will plan to squeeze this in probably in August, between our planned June and October meetups) when Megan will be interviewing E.M. at the Historic New Orleans Collection. Details to come!!
In the meantime, check out more information about the book, Megan's organization and how you can get involved. Also, save the date for her July talk w/ E.M. at Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Megan mentioned this at our monthly social this week--oh, the things you learn when you chat with our amazing krewe members!

Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc walks in Hermes
The Krewe of Hermes has created 26 beautiful original Kern Studio floats celebrating the story of Joan of Arc and has invited the Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc to walk in celebration of their theme “Visions of Joan of Arc.” Look for Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc to be led by The Nola Angels dressed as medieval flag corps, followed by krewe participants dressed in medieval attire carrying krewe banners and battery operated lanterns, walking in front of and behind our 2025 Maid of Honor Life Sacco on horseback.
Approximately 75 Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc members will march in front of Hermes’ float 33, which depicts the golden Joan of Arc statue in the French Quarter, affectionately known as “Joanie on the Pony”.
Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc is honored to be the first fellow krewe that the historic Krewe of Hermes has ever invited to join them in their parade. Their historically accurate narrative tribute to Joan is a testament to the special place Jeanne d’Arc holds in the hearts of New Orleanians.
Hermes was founded in 1937 by a group of businessman and named after Hermes, the Greek god of commerce and travelers. The krewe marches the Friday before Fat Tuesday. The parade starts at the intersection of magazine and Jefferson Street at 5:30 PM.
Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc was founded in 2008 as an artistic theatrical procession depicting the life of Joan of Arc on her birthday, January 6. The Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc marches every Twelfth Night in the French Quarter.
