Foot Soldiers: Costume Pick-Up 1-3 p.m. Sunday!

Thanks for signing up as a foot soldier!  It’s time for your first mission as a member of Joan’s Army of Artists. Remember, all foot soldiers must pick up their costumes at one of the costume pick-up days BEFORE parade day. When picking up at the Krewe storage unit, park in the small lot outside the gate. Wave from the gate and volunteer director Shannon Steele will let you in.  Our unit and Shannon are visible and shouting distance from the entrance gate, or you can call Shannon at 501-681-6166.

You’ll find out when you pick up where you’re assigned, but most of the costumes will require you to provide your own dark, solid-color pants and MEDIEVAL SHOES.  We’ll mention those medieval shoes now in case you were looking for an excuse to buy some awesome boots, but you can probably find suitable shoes in your closet too.  Here’s our foot soldier costume guide to give you a preview (medieval shoes on p. 2). On parade day, you arrive at the line-up in your costume, and NO COSTUMES will be handed out on parade day.

Costume pick-up dates will be:

  • 1-3 p.m. Sunday Dec. 11th at the Krewe storage unit at Public Storage on the  corner of Washington and Earhart, entry on Earhart (map)
  • 1-3 p.m. Sunday Dec. 18th at the home of volunteer director Shannon Steele, 1212 N. Gayoso St., Apt. 102 (map)
  • 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday Dec. 29th at the home of volunteer director Shannon Steele, 1212 N. Gayoso St., Apt. 102 (map)
  • 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday January 2 at the annual New Year’s Work Party at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall (map). It’s worth dropping in for all the excitement even if you’ve already picked up your costume!
