Giant Wreath Project

We need LOTS of help to make a GIANT wreath (like 10 feet!) to go in front of the Joan statue.  This will be a wreath of GIANT, WHITE flowers and we plan to have it go up on St. Joan’s Feast Day May 30 and stay up until the French wreath laying event at the statue as part of the Bastille Day celebrations.

For the GIANT wreath at the statue, we’ll need at least 12 three foot diameter GIANT WHITE WEATHERPROOF flower heads and additional one-two foot diameter WHITE WEATHERPROOF flower heads.    We’d also like to make a smaller indoor oversized wreath (say, 3-foot total) to place in the St. Louis Cathedral at the Joan statue.

CALLING OUR CRAFTERS: You’re invited to make one or two of these giant flowers at home.  Because we’re going for all white, differences in style and type of flower will add variety, so your individual creative differences are most welcome.  Flowers are due to be dropped off at the den Thursday evening.  Our preferred material is WHITE “deco mesh” or “poly burlap.”  It’s ok if the mesh has some gold, silver or other accent colors, but it should be mostly white. We might be open to other materials ideas if they are white and weatherproof. Flower centers can be in a contrasting natural color.  Due to social distancing there will be no scheduled workshops, but a few individuals are welcome to work one at a time with Captain Amanda at the krewe den; just call to schedule a time. Please check in with Captain Amanda 504-940-4976 to let us know you’re making some, consult, get help purchasing materials, or sign up for a time to work at the den.
