May 28 Feast Day Party, Prayer Service and Procession
Wear white (if you have it!) and bring flowers for the Joan statue
Joan’s feast day honors her life on the day she died, May 30. Our krewe celebration is on Thursday May 28. It’s open to the public, so invite people. Gather at 5:30 at the Old Ursuline Convent for a vesper prayer service at St. Mary’s chapel including St. Michael’s Angel Army medieval choir at 5:45 p.m., followed by small bites and beverages in the Old Urusuline Convent museum and garden. Dress in white (if you have it!) and bring flowers to leave at the Joan of Arc statue at few blocks away. We will walk to the statue at approximately 6:45 p.m. after our social time. At the statue we will have a reading of our 2027 parade prayer card and brief remarks. Event ends approximately 7:15 at the statue.
Schedule:
- 5:30 pm Gather
- 5:45 Vespers prayer service in St. Mary chapel
- 6:15-6:45 Drinks and light bites with the krewe in the Old Urusuline Convent Museum and garden.
- 6:45 Walk to Joan of Arc statue at St. Phillip and Decatur (approx 2 blocks).
- 7:00 Brief ceremony at statue.
- 7:15 pm Event ends
Full membership is open for 2027!
Full membership is open for the 2026-2027 year leading up to the January 6, 2027, parade! Membership prices will increase at the close of Joan’s Feast Day (May 30) and again at All Saints Day (Nov. 1), so get yours early to get the best rate. After much discussion, the board decided not to raise membership dues in order to keep the krewe accessible. We hope that those who can afford it will opt for a higher level of membership. Join online here!
Workshop at Captain Amanda’s Sunday, May 31, 2-6 p.m.
Come craft with us at the home of krewe captain Amanda Helm at 7330 Sycamore St. (map) All skill levels are welcome and all supplies will be provided. These are a great way to connect with other krewe members, get your questions answered, show off your own krewe projects, and bounce ideas. FYI for those with allergies, Lady Jane the cat does live here.
Non-Krewe But Fun Upcoming Events
Medieval Dancing and Mini Renaissance Fest
Medieval dancing lessons led by instructor “Giddy Up Two Step” Costume required, advance ticket required. We’d love to incorporate more medieval dancing in the krewe, and several krewe members attended one of her recent sessions and had a blast! She’s offered several sessions in April-June and they’ve been selling out quickly. There are two sessions with a few tickets left ($11):
- June 10 at Anna’s bar, 7:30-9:30 p.m. (event link, ticket link)
- June 20 at Urban South Brewery, noon – 1 p.m. (SOLD OUT), during the mini-Renaissance Fest.
- June 20, Mini Renaissance Fest at Urban South Brewery, free and open to the public, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Costumes encouraged.
Volunteers needed for the Krewe info table at the Urban South Mini Ren Fest
We know many krewe members are planning to attend the mini Renaissance Festival. It would be great if we could have some people sign up to take a shift staffing the krewe information table at the mini-Renaissance Festival (in costume please). Sign up here.
