NEW ROUTE AND START TIME!!!: Details about our route and stops
Before the parade: Line-Up Instructions
- Arrive at THE NEW STARTING POINT at 300 Front Street (Corner of Front and Bienville, Premium Parking Lot #402, map) by 6:30 p.m. The royals themselves should arrive earlier to be available for media!
- Park at the start in Premium Parking Lot 402 or at the end in Premium Parking Lot #407 (map, entrance near 698 Decatur), carpool is encouraged. Reserve a parking space.
- Royal entourage members do NOT need to check in at the check-in desk. Go straight to the royal pedicabs and get your wristband from your royal.
- Arrive in costume ready to parade. There is nowhere to store anything at the line-up or to change clothes.
- Don’t ruin your costume! No modern coats, purses or bags on top of your costume.
- Hold off on the drinking until after the parade.
Your job during the parade
- We are all performers, and you are actors portraying the royal medieval court. Help us create a spectacular experience for our crowd!
- Once the parade starts, keep your cell phone or camera put away
- For the crowd, it takes about 30 minutes for us to pass, and we want to make the most of every minute by staying in character. Fans often move along our route to watch us again!
- The parade has three ceremonial stops. The parade will remain in formation for all stops, and YOU will remain in formation with it.
- The royal entourage walks between our young Maid of Honor Joan on horseback and the royal pedicabs, so you will have a great view of the ceremonies at three of the stops:
- Stop 1 the royal toast from the Historic New Orleans Collection balcony;
- Stop 2 the king cake ceremony at Oscar Dunn Park;
- and Stop 3, the sword blessing at St. Mary’s Chapel in the Old Ursuline Convent.
- When the royal entourage and the royal pedicabs arrive at Oscar Dunn Park, the King and Queen will dismount from the pedicabs and perform the king cake ceremony on the sidewalk (where the street performers ordinarily perform).
- The royal ENTOURAGE should view the king cake ceremony from your place in the parade formation. Do not follow your royal into Oscar Dunn Park.
Parade end and after
- The parade ends around 9:30 p.m. in the French Market vendor parking lot (90 French Market Place, map), where the props truck will be waiting for us. Return any krewe-owned props you’ve been carrying back to the props truck, and you are free to go celebrate.
