Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc logo

Original 1429 document granting Joan her coat of arms Our logo is based on the coat of arms King Charles VII of France assigned to Joan in 1429, granting her nobility status in recognition of her work.  Joan’s original coat of arms called for a field of azure with “a sword per pale argent hilted or between a crown in chief and two fleurs-de-lys of the last.” Our logo takes the same sword, crown and fleur-de-lis, but tilts the crown, symbolizing our whimsical nature, and adds three raindrops in memory of our Joan-like determination in the face of torrential rain our first year. Or maybe the tilted crown and teardrops are a reference to her bitter end. We like things open to individual interpretation.
